small business

My friend Mira of Whimsy Beads, had an old website which I had designed years ago that was time consuming to maintain as it was built. We moved everything over to a new WordPress installation, keeping the original design and simplifying the portfolio as she is selling most of her work on Etsy now. Now she will be able to update the gallery when she needs to add new designs and interface with her social media to keep her customers up to date with her shows and special events. Nancy Warren and Janice Welenc are both lifelong gardeners who have been designing gardens throughout the Boston area since 1990, yet they never found the time to put together a website. This was a delightful web project for me as I have benefited from their excellent garden design skills. We put their site up in time for some important jobs they were bidding on.

Woodard Interiors
Commercial Interior Designer, Noel Sior-Woodard, had an outdated template site she had built and was looking for something much more professional and classy for her business, Woodard Interiors. We worked hard to find the layout that worked with her vision and built this WordPress/Thesis site to bring an elegant new online presence to her interior design business.

NEW (Network of Enterprising Women) – a group I became involved with in the past year, was in need of an updated website. An active group which meets regularly through monthly general meetings, board meetings, and regular morning coffee get togethers, they needed the site to be easily updatable and current. Designing this new site with WordPress gives board members the ability to update their areas of responsibility as needed.

Deborah Kollmeyer, independent designer and owner of Distinct Interior Designs, was interested in getting a fresh look with a new website to profile her work and style. Her new website gave her the look she was striving for as well as a robust content management system in WordPress, enabling her to make her own updates and get excellent built in SEO.

Books By Janet is the creation of Janet McKetchnie. Janet was in need of an updated website that she could maintain on her own. Her old site was very outdated and stale and she desperately needed a fresher, cleaner look that would appeal to the clients and clearly portray her strengths as a bookkeeping service.

Survival By Design Cards is the creative outlet for print designer Jennifer Adler. These sassy greeting cards needed a new e-commerce website to give them the personality they deserved. Developing the site with WordPress, Thesis and Shopp, gave Jennifer the ability to manage her inventory easily and to showcase her seasonal, newly released, sale items in a timely fashion.

Cutty’s is a fast casual restaurant that sells inexpensive premium-quality breakfast and lunch fare. Owner, Charles Kelsey was looking for a very simple site for his new restaurant in Brookline, MA. Charles is a graduate of the famed Culinary Institute of America and has worked several years with Cooks Illustrated as an editor as well as a contributing writer to publications such as the former Gourmet Magazine (RIP). Wanting to add character to his site, I took photos of some vintage kitchen knives we found in the basement of his restaurant and translated them into a border that appears above the footer. The site is built with WordPress and Thesis.
